A Study on the Married Women¢¥s Knowledge, Attitude and Practice of Family Planning in an Urban Area

Abstract
|
|
|
This study was performed to obtain the information on the knowledge, attitude and practice of family planning during the period from August 1 to September 30, 1978.
The data was collected by interviewing 322 married women who was living in Seoul during the above period.
The results are as follows:
1. The percentage of married eligible women (20 to 44 years age) among the total
respondants was 74.3% and their occupation was mainly housewife (89.8%).
The older the married women were, the lower their education level were.
2. The 78.0% of the respondants had the proper family planning concepts and the 95.7% showed positive attitude about family planning.
3. 87.9% of the respondants expressed that the couples would be able to control the number of their children.
4. 84.7% of the respondants had the knowledge on concepts, methods and resources of family planning.
The age, educational background and marrital age had an effect on the knowledge of family planning (p<0.05).
5. The practice rate of contraception was 45.3% of total respondants.
